Antoine Wiertz

Antoine Joseph Wiertz was a Belgian painter, sculptor, lithographer and art writer. He is known for his religious, historical, allegorical works, and portraits. An eccentric figure, he was originally much influenced by the works of Peter Paul Rubens and Michelangelo.
