Michel Adanson

Michel Adanson was an 18th-century French botanist and naturalist who travelled to Senegal to study flora and fauna. He proposed a "natural system" of taxonomy distinct from the binomial system forwarded by Linnaeus. The standard author abbreviation Adans.
