Theodoros Metochites

Theodore Metochites was a Byzantine statesman, author, gentleman philosopher–astronomer, and patron of the arts. From c. 1305 to 1328 he held the position of personal adviser (mesazōn) to emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos.
